Virtual Class Recordings

design (1).png

Virtual classes have been a great resource for us as we are trying to aid in public health initiatives due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We have been having a great time learning and growing together during this time. Life has handed us lemons… and we have decided to keep dancing and flipping anyway!

We have recorded (and will continue to record) each evening of classes that we host online. I have organized these links into a Google File and you will find that link below. If you have missed your online classes live or if you just want to take class again, just find your recording. One bonus of Virtual classes, is you can view them as often as you like!

I will update this link often so you can always access the classes you need.

Happy Dancing (And Happy Flipping),

Ms. Lindsay

TDC News: Special Edition COVID-19 Update

design - 2020-03-14T162012.319.png

At The Dance Centre, the health and safety of our faculty and students are our most important priorities.

As COVID-19 continues to spread and affect many parts of the U.S., we have been closely monitoring local conditions. After consulting with industry leaders and state and federal partners, we have determined that is it in the best interest of our faculty and families to temporarily suspend all classes.  Joining in the effort to aid public heath initiatives is very important to us.

Effective March 16, the studio will be closed at least until March 27 to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Our dance season will be converted to online classes and resources until classes resume.  Below, you will find more information regarding our online classes.  I very much appreciate your support in this new situation we find ourselves in.  I know that if we work together and support each other, we will come through this stronger than ever.

In the meantime, recital and showcase dates will remain unchanged. We will continue to monitor the situation, and should emergency directions be issued, we will update you accordingly.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, I am here to help.  You may email me at lindsay@dancecentreky.net or call the office at (606) 6207-7507.

 Thank you for taking the appropriate steps with us to lighten the risk to our community as much as possible. We greatly appreciate your support during these challenging times.

 Happy Dancing! (And Flipping!) (And hand washing!),

Ms. Lindsay

In order to continue learning and growing together, we will be offering all classes online at least until March 27.  I will update you weekly with new information regarding online classes.

This week, we will be using Zoom for all online classes.  If this platform works well for us, we will continue using it.  If we find we need to try another solution, I will let you know if an online class update next week.

All classes will be broadcast live online via Zoom during your childs' normal class time.  All you need to do is log in, and take class.  If you are unable to join us during your normal class time, or if you would like to take class again, we will record these class sessions, and I will send you a link to use for later viewing.

Links to join in the Zoom Meetings will be available in a following blog post.

We will all join in one meeting room, and then be moved into another room (called a breakout room) as needed.  We will have Jaymine helping out with the tech support during our online classes, so she will be making sure everyone gets where the need to go for their classes.  Also, if you have any questions during our online classes via Zoom, feel free to type a message in the chat section, and Jaymine will be there to assist you as well.

2. Click "Sign Up, It's Free"
3. Enter your e-mail address (or sign up using Google or Facebook)
4. If you sign up using your e-mail address, you will be prompted to check your email to activate your account.  Check your e-mail, click the link and a short download will occur.

TDC News: March Edition

design (30).png

Looking forward to an amazing March!

{A note from Ms. Lindsay}

March is one of my favorite months (and not just because it's my birthday! ;) )  It's that sweet spot in the year when we've got lots of Recital prep going on... just right in the middle of things!  BUT I know I'll pretty much blink and Recital will be here!   So, with that in mind, here are some Recital updates:

  • We are right in the middle of Recital Choreography.  Things are going well and our dancers are working hard and doing a great job!

  • We expect our costume shipments in late April or early May.  We will e-mail you the day we expect to try costumes on in your classes to give you a heads up, so you can be prepared for that.

  • Next week, we have Dance Cast Lists for T-shirts and Recital Programs posted in the lobby.  I need all the help I can get in proofing these!  Please make sure you check both lists and look for correct spelling of your dancer's name and that their name is listed under the correct dances.  If all information is correct, please highlight their name.  If corrections are needed, please make them.

  • I will have Gymnastics Cast Lists up later in March, and be on the lookout for more information about our Gymnastics Showcase soon!

  • I will also have Recital T-shirt and Gymnastics Outfit previews to show you next week!  We will also begin taking orders for those, as well as Recital tights and bodysuits.

Keep reading for more great information including our March and April Calendars below!

Happy Dancing! (And Flipping!),

February=Share the Love

{A note from Ms. Lindsay}

February is synonymous with all things love and kindness.  We plan on celebrating those things this month at The Dance Centre!  February 10-13, we will be celebrating #shareTDClove Week during class (send your child to class dressed in red or pink this week if you can!).  We will be posting Virtual Valentines on our Facebook and Instagram accounts for you to share on your own social media, or tag your friends and loved ones to spread the love around.  Be sure to check out my latest post on the Happy Dancing Blog all about #shareTDClove Week.

Don't forget that all costume balance payments are due by Friday, February 14.  We are having such a great time working on Recital choreography.  "Super Sweet Season 20" Recital 2020 is going to be so much fun!  Make sure you check out my latest blog post all about our Recital Reveal Week here.

 As an extra special treat to get you in the #shareTDClove spirit, I've created a Spirit of TDC Spotify Playlist that I think represents The Dance Centre and what we are all about.  We will be using this music in our classes, and I wanted to share it with you to enjoy, too!

Everyone knows that February is the month for sharing the love.  With my heart all aflutter I am excited to give you some fun virtual Valentines to help you share the love next week, just in time for Valentine's Day! (We will be celebrating all week!)

We all have people in our lives who inspire, motivate, and make us feel special.  And we have people in our lives that we love a whole lot, too.  It is the perfect time of year to shine the light on those special people.  I have created five different images you can share on social media with those special someones <3  I will be posting these on The Dance Centre's Facebook and Instagram accounts and I'd love for you to tag someone you love and admire each day.  You are also welcome to save these and send them to your favorite dancer, gymnast, friend, teacher... anyone!  What a fun way to #shareTDClove and brighten the world, one heart at a time!  Let's send some love around!

Jumping right into January!

{A note from Ms. Lindsay}

I hope your Christmas was Merry and your New Year was very bright!

January is the month we announce our Recital theme each year.  I love having a different and special theme for each Recital we produce.  We have been putting this one together since last year.  We've been keeping our Recital secrets for so long, we are bursting at the seams to share it all with you!  We will be announcing our Recital 2020 theme and showing all the costumes and songs we are planning on using in class next week (January 6-9).  Let me say...it's going to be so good!  Be excited!  I am!

Since we are jumping into January (which can mean snow in our area), I wanted to take a moment and remind you of our Inclement Weather Policy.  We do not necessarily follow the school cancellation schedule in the event of bad weather.  Please check our Facebook page or call The Dance Centre at (606) 620-7507 after 3 p.m. to check for closings due to inclement weather.

Keep reading below for more January news!
