Online Classes Information and Links for May 4-7

May 4-7

Hello!

This May we are celebrating turning lemons into lemonade! We are making the best out of this bad situation of COVID-19 and we are going to celebrate our students, their talent, all the fun we’ve had together, and all of our hard work this year. That’s why we are carrying on with our Virtual Recital at the end of the month. If you missed my blog post all about Virtual Recital, make sure you check it out here. There is so. much. good information.

With that in mind…we’ve got another great week of Live Zoom Classes coming up!

In order to access your childs' classes, please click the link below for the day you attend class.  I recommend joining the Online Class five minutes before your normal class time.  If you are unable to join us during your normal class time, or if you would like to take class again, we will record these class sessions. You can view those recordings by clicking here.

As always, if you have questions, I am here for you.  Just email me at lindsay@dancecentreky.net.

Important Note: Please keep in mind that if you are experiencing technical difficulties during class time, the most efficient way for us to help you is though our Facebook Page’s messaging platform. Please message us there for the quickest response.

Happy Dancing! (And Flipping!) (And Hand Washing!),
Ms. Lindsay

P.S. View my previous blog posts with more information about our Online Classes and how to use Zoom here.

P.P.S. I am very excited to celebrate our final month of the 2019-2020 Season this May with our Level II, KinderCombo, CreativeCombo, and Creative Ballet Classes with a Lemonade Escapade!

TDC News: May Edition

May News

Dear Parents and Dancers,

Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures.  Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, having a tradition recital is not an option for us this year.  I’ve spent lots of tears, worry, and sleepless nights over this.  But then I decided, we have to carry on as best we can.  This year’s Recital will be a Virtual one.

I know you are as sad as I am that we won’t get to celebrate our year together in the traditional way, but let’s look on the bright side.  We have technology we can use to celebrate the best way we can right now.  So, let’s use it!  Let’s come together.  Let’s do our best.  Let’s truly be #teamdancecentre.

By doing this…  by adapting and carrying on when we really need to, we really are turning lemons into lemonade.

Our Virtual Recital name is now “Turning Lemons into Lemonade” because we are taking our Super Sweet Season 20, and we are making the best of it with our heads held high.

I truly cannot say how much I appreciate your kindness and support as we have done our best to continue serving you during this time.  The sweet messages and emails have been balm to my soul.

I know this is different, this isn’t what any of us expected.  I know this might be a little scary.  But, let’s work together, and I promise you that Virtual Recital 2020 will be a beautiful way to celebrate our year together.

Happy Dancing. Happy Flipping.  And so much love and light.

Ms. Lindsay

T-Shirts

Lemonade Recital Shirt.JPG

•Students will wear t-shirts and black bottoms for their Virtual Recital Performance

•All orders for dancers t-shirts should be placed online via the Student Shirt Link.  All you will need to do is select your size.  No payment will be required for this since it is included in your Virtual Recital Package.

•Parents and other family members are welcome to purchase additional t-shirts.  You may do so on the Parent Shirt Link.  These shirts will be $22 at the time the order is placed.  Please keep in mind, we will not be ordering extra t-shirts.

•In order to receive the t-shirts in a timely manner, the deadline to order will be Friday, May 8 at 3 p.m.

•All t-shirts will be available for pick up on May 26, 27, and 28 at The Dance Centre.

•The system for picking up t-shirts will be: Call The Dance Centre at (606) 620-7507 when you arrive, let me know your name and I’ll bring your shirt out to your car.

Filming Deadline

•Film your dancer performing over our regularly scheduled Recital Weekend, May 29, 30, and 31!

•All video submissions should be turned in to me by Monday, June 1 at 3 p.m.

Filming Tips

•In order to make a virtual recital work we need your help with filming your child.

•Do your best to find a blank, open wall or backdrop to film your dancer in front of.

•Film your dancer’s entire body.

•Film your dancer in the landscape orientation (sideways, not up and down).

•You can find edited Recital Music via the Recital Music Link

•Your dancer may feel most comfortable dancing with their teacher…and that’s OK!  Set up your laptop or another device playing your child’s recital dance (found in the Recital Dances Link), and film them dancing with your phone. (Just make sure to only film your dancer).

Curtain Call

•Curtain Call is one of my favorite parts of Recital…so I want us to have a Virtual Curtain Call as well!

•Please film your dancer smiling, waving, and showing off their best curtsy or bow, and send that to me as well. This clip only needs to be 5-10 seconds long.

Video Submissions

•You are welcome to email video submissions to lindsay@dancecentreky,net however most videos may be too large.

•If your video is too large, please share your videos with me on Google Drive.  Upload your videos to Google Drive and then share them to lindsay@dancecentreky.net.

•Please film each dance your dancer is in separately and submit a separate video file for each dance.

When to expect the Virtual Recital Digital Download?

•I will begin the production process as soon as possible on June 1.  I hope to have the Virtual Recital Digital Download to you by July 1, with physical DVDs shipping out later in July.

Questions

•I know this is a lot to process, and this is very different from any Recital we have ever produced, so it is okay to have questions.

•I invite you to join me on Tuesday, May 5 at 3 p.m. for a Zoom Q and A Session.  Follow the Zoom Q and A Link to join in and come with questions!

•Please, also feel free to email me at lindsay@dancecentreky.net with any questions you may have.

I couldn’t be more proud of our students this year, and I am thrilled to have the chance to celebrate them and their hard work both this year, and throughout the many years some of our dancers have been with us at The Dance Centre.

To all of our students, from the bottom of my heart, I give you the biggest round of applause.

Ms. Lindsay

Spring Break (No Live Zoom Classes + Staying Healthy at Home)

Spring Break.JPG

Happy Spring Break!

Please remember that we will be closed this week, April 6-10 for our regularly scheduled Spring Break and will not be hosting any Live Zoom classes.  Online Zoom classes will resume the week of April 13.

I know our current situation of staying Healthy at Home isn't what most of us had in mind when we were thinking about Spring Break just a few months ago, but here are a few, fun ideas to keep you safe, healthy, and making lemonade out of these lemons!

1. Arrange a drive by!  Text or call a friend and see if you can drive by and see them from a safe distance...Just like sweet Ms. Ali did for our Ms. Jenine this past week!

92133117_10218497401559752_3127540406934306816_n.jpg

2.  Put those Easter Eggs to use at home!  Hide eggs for your kiddos and don't miss out on that Easter Week fun.  (For a twist...let your kids hide eggs for you...and don't feel bad about eating that candy!)

3.  Join us for a Facebook Live this week.  I will still be hosting my Mindfulness Monday today at 1 p.m. for parents and adults that would like to learn more about Mindfulness and how to put it into practice with me, and my next Facebook Story Time and Dance Event will be Thursday at 11.  See more details below.

4.  Take a class with your kiddo!
Last Thursday I had some awesome parents join in our Zoom classes with their littles!  The kids loved it and I did too!  Try something new and get moving with your dancer or gymnast.  I have linked our Virtual Class recordings and our Bonus Content Library that features On Demand Dance Classes and Recital Choreography below.

5. Engage with us on Social Media!  I'd love to see what you are doing this Spring Break to stay Healthy at Home!

Wishing you love and light...and Happy Dancing!
Ms. Lindsay

TDC News: April Edition

My, how things have changed.

(This newsletter is a bit lengthy and has lots of great links and info...so please bear with me and read it thoroughly.)

Normally in April, The Dance Centre is abuzz with excitement for our upcoming Dance Recitals and Gymnastics Showcase events.  This year, the studio is quiet, as we have transitioned to online classes as we are joining the initiative to keep everyone healthy at home during the COVID-19 health crises.

I am feeling blessed that I can keep serving our students and the community safely.  We have gotten lots of great feedback from parents and students about our Virtual Classes.  They give everyone a little normalcy during this difficult time of social distancing.  We get to see each other during our live class time and send virtual high fives, hearts, and blow kisses.  It helps to keep our spirits up.

Important April Announcements

  • If you have missed our Live Online Classes via Zoom, or would like to take class again at your convenience, I am linking the recordings below.

  • We are working on a Bonus Content Library that will feature pre-recorded Warm-up and Technique classes AND all Recital Choreography.  We already have a lot of great content there and are continuing to update that.  It should be complete with classes and choreography for all dance classes by this afternoon.  (One idea for using this resource is to watch and participate your class' Warm Up and Technique, and then practice your Recital Routine.  A fun and easy way to take class any time you'd like!)

  • Please remember that we will be closed next week, April 6-10 for our regularly scheduled Spring Break and will not be hosting any Live Zoom classes.  Online Zoom classes will resume the week of April 13.  (Those items in our Bonus Content Library will be a great resource to keep you moving during Spring Break, and any time!)

  • I am also now currently offering some extra Free Facebook Live events to serve everyone even more.  Keep scrolling to find out more, and to access some fun freebies for this month.  We have a Magical Meadows playlist that goes along with our Preschool Dance Classes and a coloring sheet (that involves a unicorn!) that will get us all in the mood for spring.  I know your little one will love it!

  • One last note: You may be wondering about Spring Recital and Gymnastics Showcase Weekend.  Please know that we are working tirelessly to monitor this health crises and make the best decisions to keep everyone safe and healthy.  We will continue to monitor the situation and we will let you know as soon as possible once we know more.

Stay strong.  We will get through this together.

Wishing you love and light...and Happy Dancing!
Ms. Lindsay
